KP Assembly approved budget worth Rs. 4.87 trillion, CM says boycott wouldnt help opposition

PESHAWAR: (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) Assembly has on Monday approved the provincial budget for 2015-16 worth Rs. 4.87 trillion. Opposition parties boycotted the budge session but Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak said that the opposition parties’ boycott will prove costly for their constituencies, reported Dunya News.

KP Assembly session was chaired by Speaker Asad Qaiser. Four major opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) boycotted the session. Session approved the budget worth Rs. 4.87 trillion in the session. Finance Bill was also approved by the session with amendments while demands of budget worth Rs. 487 billion were also approved.

Criticizing the opposition parties during the session, Pervez Khattak said that the opposition parties’ boycott will only cost their own constituencies. He also criticized the federal government and WAPDA over load shedding.

Talking about the budget, CM KP said that all the districts were being provided equal funds. “42,000 elected representatives will now serve the people”, he added.

Opposition party in the house Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) tried its best to play the role of opposition. Its MPAs also requested the members of the other 4 opposition parties to return to the session and take part in the budget discussion.
