Accountability Court in Rawalpindi reopens assets reference against Zardari

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Accountability court in Rawalpindi has summoned former President Asif Ali Zardari on April 27 while reopening the assets reference against him, Dunya News reported on Friday.

According to details, the hearing was headed by Judge Raja Ikhlaq Hussain.

During the hearing, Nationality Accountability Bureau’s (NAB’s) special Prosecutor Raja Khurram Ejaz asked the court to reopen the asset reference after five years as the presidential immunity of Zardari has now ended.

The reference was filed against the former President in 2001 but was dismissed in 2010 by the Judge Muhammad Tariq under presidential immunity but it was restored later when NRO was declared null and void.

Judge Raja Ikhlaq Hussain on April 14,2015 wrote a letter to NAB and asked about the reopening of the reference on which chairman NAB in a written reply informed the judge to reopen the reference.
