SIM verification deadline ends today, no extension likely: PTA

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The deadline for biometric verification of mobile SIMs ends today (Sunday) whereas the SIMs which remain unverified till 12 midnight will be blocked, Dunya News reported.

In a statement issued in Islamabad, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Ismail Shah has said deadline for biometric verification of SIMs will not be extended anymore.

He said that almost 77 million SIMs have so far been verified whereas 1,66,90,774 SIMs have been blocked which were issued without identification card.

PTA Chairman confirmed that the SIMs of 1,17,57,797 overseas Pakistanis have yet not blocked their deadline have been extended for further six months.

Moreover, 15 million SIMs are yet to be verified.

The chairman said that data of verified SIMs would be available with NADRA.

Ismail Shah also lauded the cooperation of the people and the mobile companies in SIMs verification process.
