Politics, democracy and assemblies hostages in Pakistan: Sirajul Haq
Final decision regarding aligning with PTI for NA 246 by-poll has not been taken yet, he said
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Saturday said that ‘corrupt’ rulers have occupied all the institutions, claiming that Pakistan’s politics, democracy and assemblies are hostages.
He said the final decision to align with PTI for Karachi’s NA 246 by-poll has not been taken yet.
Addressing the Meet the Press program at Peshawar Press Club, Jamaat chief demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of Karachi’s situation.
“What else does Election Commission need after Nabil Gabol’s revelations?” he asked.
He said Karachi still has problems that it had 20 years ago as well. “People voted for Altaf Hussain and what did Altaf Hussain give to the people”, he asked.
Jamaat chief said that political parties should work together towards resolution of people’s problems instead of fighting.
He said it is with Jamaat’s efforts that the judicial commission to probe alleged rigging in election has been formed.
Sirajul Haq said that conclusive decision to align with PTI for Karachi’s by-election has not been taken yet.
