Pakistan condemns killing of Iranian border guards

Security agencies in Pakistan are actively investigating this incident, the FO said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday strongly condemned terrorist act in Negour area of Iran in which eight border guards were killed.

The area has been scene of occasional clashes between Iranian forces and militant groups believed to be affiliated with al-Qaida.

In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperon Tasnim Aslam said the government of Pakistan has conveyed sincere condolences to members of the bereaved families and the government of Iran.

She said the concerned security agencies of Pakistan are actively investigating this incident, which took place on Iran’s territory, and have asked Iranian authorities to share with us any evidence, which they have.

The spokesperson said in case the culprits have crossed over to Pakistan after committing the crime on Iran’s soil, they will be apprehended and brought to justice.
