The cost of Hajj has been reduced by 17,000 rupees as compared to last year

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly’s Standing committee for Religuous Affairs approved Hajj policy 2015 on Friday. According to the scheme, 143,000 people will go on pilgrimage this year while the applications for Hajj will be received from 15 to 20 April, reported Dunya News.

Hafiz Abdul Kareem presided over the session of standing committee in Islamabad.

Officials of Ministry for Religious Affairs debriefed the session on Hajj Policy 2015. According to the policy, 50 percent of Hajis will perform pilgrimage through government apparatus while the rest will perform Hajj through private operators. List of successful applicants will be displayed on 28th April via lucky draw. The cost of living, according to policy will be 600 riyals in Madina and 3000 riyals in Makkah per person.

The cost of Hajj has been reduced by 17,000 rupees as compared to last year.

The total expenditure of going to Hajj from Karachi, Quetta and Sukkur will be 246,231 rupees while 255,071 will be charged from passengers of other cities.

Due to rebuilding of structure in Makkah, Pakistan’s quota of pilgrimage goers was reduced by 20 percent last year.

People who have gone to pilgrimage in the past 5 years will not be able to apply this year while only those private operators which were registered last year will be given quota, states policy.

Hajj policy will be monitored by parliamentary committee.
