Qaddafi stadium property tax: LHC stops Excise dept from recovery
Excise department sent a notice of 10 million rupees for property tax to Qaddafi stadium
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court stopped the Excise department from recovery of property tax of Qaddafi stadium by issuing a stay order on Friday.
Justice Abdul Rehman Lodhi heard the application in which Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s lawyer Tafazzul Rizvi stated that the Excise department sent a notice of 10 million rupees for property tax which was illegal and unconstitutional.
Rizvi told the court that the department cannot apply tax on a property on lease, so according to the law, court should declare the tax notice as invalid.
Court gave a stay order for the recovery of tax and asked the Excise department to present their argument on 9th of May.
