Chaudhry Aslam honored by Pakistani tweeps on his death anniversary
Tweeps poured in their love for the brave martyr and honored him for his resolve to fight terrorism
LAHORE: (Web Desk) - On January 6, last year, Pakistan lost its dear son Aitzaz Hasan when the brave youngster took on a terrorist who was out to blow up a school in Hangu. He stopped a terrorist realizing his plan and the terrorist was left with no option but to blow himself up without reaching his destination, where he could have killed hundreds of students.
Just three days later, on January 9, nation was taken aback by yet shocking news when SP CID Karachi Chaudhry Aslam was murdered in a terrorist attack in Karachi. Chaudhry Aslam was one of the bravest sons this nation has ever produced. Standing tall before the terrorists, he was a wall that protected the common citizens of Karachi from the extremists. Chaudhry Aslam foiled several terrorist attacks and arrested hundreds of terrorists and members of banned outfits during his career.
Being a ranker promoted gradually to the post of SP, Chaudhry Aslam had a strong network at the base and was well-equipped to counter the terrorists. He had his sources almost everywhere, a quality that distinguished him from other officers. He started his career as an assistant sub-inspector in 1984. He was rotated as Station House Officer (SHO) at various police stations of Karachi.
Chaudhry Aslam launched a deadly operation against the gangsters of Lyari and killed many of them in shootouts. He was made the head of Investigation Wing of CID in 2010. In 2011, Chaudhry Aslam’s house was half blown up by Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Aslam’s words at the time were, “I knew I was their target but it would not deter me from fighting terrorists”.
On January 9, 2014, it was again a terrorist attack, this time a successful one, that took Chaudhry Aslam away. The responsibility was claimed by Mohmand Agency chapter of TTP.
One year has passed but Pakistanis haven’t forgotten his heroics. His resolve to fight the terrorists and the bravery with which he took them on continues to be an inspiration for the nation.
So today, on his first death anniversary, #WeSaluteChAslam trended on top for several hours throughout Pakistan. Tweeps poured in their love for the brave martyr in their tweets and honored him for his resolve to fight the menace of terrorism.

For some, he was a hero. The man who would wander around the city fearlessly, knowing he was on terrorists hit-list..
Cigarette in mouth, glock pistol in his hand, white cotton dress & above all no fear. A man had a personality. #WeSaluteChAslam

But in the end, a question is answered. Were it Taliban who won this battle simply because they were successful in killing a cop or was it the other way around? What did they manage after all? Murdering Aslam? Or is it that Chaudhry Aslam defeated them in his last encounter with the terrorists too? They never managed to kill him in a combat. They had to bomb him to silence him.
Who lost this battle? Chaudhry Aslam or TTP? I think this couplet sums this up.. pic.twitter.com/j2UcqJhz1m

Only one year later, Pakistani nation stands firm before the terrorists and all forms of terrorism. Chaudhry Aslam s death was probably the point when Pakistanis started to realize that "This is our war" and we have to win it.
