Staff injured as cracker blast targets Dunya News' DSNG
The attackers fled the scene after the attack.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – At least two of Dunya News’ staffers and a reporter were injured on Sunday as a cracker blast targeted its Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) van following Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally coverage.
According to the details, the attack took place at Faizabad Interchange area of Islamabad when the staffers were returning after covering PTI rally.
Initial reports suggest that the attackers were riding a motorcycle who fled the scene after the attack.
The rescue teams and law enforcement including the bomb disposal squad reached the scene and started collecting evidence.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Asmatullah Junejo admitted that the level of security that was provided to the media crew was not optimum. He said the kind of explosives used in the attack is of low category.
It merits mentioning here that Islamabad administration has a pillion riding ban in place.
