The transport minister has supported the public transporters saying their fare is already low.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The goods transporters on Friday voluntarily reduced the fares by 5% after welcoming Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s efforts to reduce petroleum prices. The Karachi transporters on the other hand have refused to reduce the fare despite sizeable reduction in petroleum goods causing serious concerns among citizens, Dunya News reported.

According to the details, the reduction in fares by the goods transporters will benefit traders and industrialists by billions of rupees. This will also reduce the cost of production of various products that will ultimately result in some relief for the end users.

However, following the Karachi transporters’ refusal to reduce the fares, citizens have expressed concern and anger and have demanded the government to take adequate steps against the transporters.

Meanwhile, the Transport Minister has also supported public transporters saying that the bus fares in Sindh are already low as compared to those in Punjab.

The federal government announced reduction in petrol prices by Rs 9.43 per liter which was hugely welcomed by the public.
