PAT, allies announced to contest elections separately at UC level and jointly on Chairman level

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and its political allies announced on Sunday to contest the local body elections jointly. The parties announced that they will contest elections at Union Council level separately and jointly on the Chairman level. PAT chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri said that the government acted against the constitution by not holding local body elections for 9 years and therefore, it’s staying in power in unconstitutional.

Meeting between PAT and its allies was held in Model Town under the headship of Dr. Tahirul Qadri. Nation was appealed to observe the month of Muharram with respect and peace in the meeting. Tahirul Qadri rejected local body legislation by Punjab government as well.

Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on this occasion that important decisions regarding local body elections have been made. The leaders announced to issue a White Paper on local body legislation and elections. The allied leaders assured that martyrs of Model Town incident will not be tolerated. He said that they will settle for nothing less than blood for blood. “Why is judicial commission report not being published?” they asked.
