Muharram moon sighted, Youm-e-Ashur on Nov 4

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The moon of the Islamic month Muharram was sighted on Saturday evening, marking the start of the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Youm-e-Ashur will be observed on November 4th in Pakistan, Dunya News reported.

Reportedly, as many as eight hundred locations have been termed extremely sensitive by the officials and the army will be deployed in at least ten districts.

The month of Muharram has a religious significance for Muslims as it marks the anniversary of the tragic battle of Karbala that took place between 9 and 10 Muharram.
