Model Town tragedy: Full bench formed against 'burial' of JT report
Full bench includes Chief Justice LHC Justice Khalid Mehmood
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Justice Lahore High Court on Wednesday formed a full bench to hear the petitions against keeping the Judicial Tribunal’s report of Model Town tragedy from public, Dunya News reported.
According to the details, the petitioner’s attorney submitted that the government forms commissions in order to bury the issues, adding that this is why the political parties and lawyers were skeptical when the government formed the commission to probe the Model Town tragedy.
The petitioner maintained that the judicial commission completed its investigation despite the criticism and the government has buried the findings instead of releasing the report to the public and prosecuting those involved.
The petitions plead to the court to take appropriate action by bringing the report to the surface.
A full bench under headship of Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan has been formed to assess the situation. The full bench also comprises Justice Anwarul Haq and Justice Abdul Sattar.
