Attack on Farooq Awan: Suspect had escaped after parking explosive-laden vehicle
Investigating authorities have collected crucial evidence from the crime scene.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The CCTV footage of the attack on Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Unit (IU) Farooq Awan surfaced on Friday. The footage revealed that the terrorist was disabled and had escaped after parking the explosives laden vehicle at the crime scene, Dunya News reported.
According to the details, a man wearing white Shalwar Kameez is seen parking the vehicle at the sight of explosion at 9:04pm and got out of the vehicle and escaped.
It is clearly visible in the CCTV footage that the terrorist was walking with a limp and right at 9:09, when SSP Awan reaches there, the vehicle explodes.
Meanwhile the investigating authorities have collected the evidence from the crime scene.
At least twelve pieces of crucial evidence have been sent to Islamabad for forensic testing.
The authorities are also trying to obtain the mobile phone data of the phones used up to 45 minutes in the surrounding area before the attack.
The investigating authorities have revealed that a camera installed at the crucial site of the crime was malfunctioned and did not record the crucial data including terrorist’s face.
The chassis number and number plate of the vehicle have also been destroyed completely, making it impossible to identify the owner.
Inspector General (IG) Sindh has issued directive to the senior officers of Karachi police advising them to stay alert and change the office hours in this regard.
