FIR of Professor Shakeel Auj's killing filed, Sindh universities shut in protest

Karachi University is observing three days of mourning against Islamic Studies professor's killing.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – First Information Report (FIR) of Karachi University professor Dr Shakeel Auj’s murder has been registered at Aziz Bhatti police station on the behalf of victim’s son Dr Mohammad Hassan.

The case filed against unknown suspects include murder, attempt to murder and terrorism sections. Authorities have also announced reward of Rs2 million on the arrest of culprits.

Meanwhile, Karachi University is observing three days of mourning and universities across the province will remain closed today.

Dr Muhammad Shakil Auj, the dean of the faculty of Islamic Studies at the university in the southern port city of Karachi was shot dead in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on Thursday when he was travelling to attend a function at an Iranian cultural centre in the city.
