Murree: Hotel management tortures Dunya News team

According to the sources, the police have helped the hotel owner to escape.

MURREE (Dunya News) – Hotel owner Nadeem exhibited a completely unscrupulous behavior when Dunya News covered the agitation of the tourists upon being mistreated by the hotel owners on Friday.

The hotel owner attacked Dunya News’ DSNG breaking its windows and targeted the reporters, cameramen and driver.

Due to the increased influx of the tourist to Mall Road Murree, the hotel owners have started charging unduly. When a tourist argued with the management of Hotel Man-o-Salwa they started beating him black and blue. When the news teams reached the site to cover the incident, the owners and the management targeted the news teams too.

The workers at the hotel got inside Dunya News’ DSNG and vandalize it, smashing its windows and breaking the cables. They also targeted the team members of Dunya News including Reporter Shakeel, Cameraman Usman Ijaz and driver Mateen. Unconscious Mateen took blows to the head and was transferred immediately to the hospital.

Cameraman Saleem Khan, of another private channel was also beaten. Hotel management did not even spare women and misbehaved with them too.

The owner and management of hotel attacked the news team with knives and sticks whereas a few of the employees exhibited weapons in order to harass the media. Furthermore, they threatened Dunya News team to pop off from Mall Road.

On this occasion, there wasn’t a single police officer present at the Mall Road, who could rectify the situation. Chief Minister Punjab has took notice of the event and ordered to file an FIR against the persons responsible.

RPO Rawalpindi Akhter Hayat Lalika also took notice of the incident and ordered took take the culprits into custody with an assurance that an FIR would also be lodged. The local administration has sealed the hotel.

According to the sources, the police have helped the hotel owner to abscond and arrested 8 suspects just to put up a show.

All the political and religious parties including Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have condemned the attack on Dunya News’ team.
