Polio case surfaces in Baluchistan after 18 months

18 month old girl never received Polio vaccine since her birth.

QUETTA: (Dunya News) – A new case of Polio virus has surfaced in Baluchistan. It is the first Polio case in Baluchistan after 18 months. According to the Department of Health, the 18 months old child never received Polio vaccine drops.

The girl aged a year and a half from Mir Zai area of Quila Abdullah has been diagnosed with Polio Virus. She is named as Nazo. Nazo had been living in Karachi with her parents for the last four months. The family has moved to Karachi only five months ago from Quila Abdullah.

Baluchistan remained Polio-free for 18 months. In 2011, most number of Polio cases, 22, surfaced in Quila Abdullah.
