Dar to present 3.8 trillion Federal Budget 2014-15 in NA today

(Web Desk) - Finance Minister Ishad Dar will present the Federal Budget with an outlay of about 3.8 trillion rupees for the next fiscal year in the National Assembly today (Tuesday).

The Annual Plan Coordination Committee and National Economic Council have already approved Public Sector Development Programme of Rs 1,310 billion including Rs 525 billion for federal and Rs 650 billion for provinces and Rs 135 billion for WAPDA and National Transmission and Distribution Companies.

According to documents obtained by Dunya News, Rs 30 billion will be allocated to acquire land for Karachi-Lahore motorway, Rs 4.69 billion for motorway between Faisalabad and Khanewal, Rs 3 billion for Lowari Tunnel and Rs 3.96 for re-construction of flood-affected roads.

Rs 3.90 billion are likely to be allocated to the Ministry of Interior. 

The PML-N government, in its second federal budget, has also planned to allocate Rs 42.67 billion for water projects. 

Pakistan Railway will get Rs 39.36 billion, Wapda Rs 70.79 billion for power projects, Rs 82 billion for Planning and Development, National Highway Authority Rs 113.39 billion, and Rs 51.47 billion will be allocated to Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission.

As per details, the proposed Federal PSDP would be twenty percent higher than 425 billion rupees for the outgoing year.

Meanwhile, the Federal Cabinet will meet in Islamabad today with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the chair to discuss and approve the budgetary proposals before the announcement of budget.

After presentation in the National Assembly, the Federal Budget would also be laid before the Senate. It would debate the budgetary proposals and formulate its own recommendations for possible incorporation.
