Ogra case: Court accepts ex-PM Gilani, Raja's exemption pleas

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The accountability court of Islamabad has accepted the exemption pleas for former PM Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf in OGRA corruption case.

A judge of accountability court Muhammad Bashir heard the case pertaining to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) multi-billion scam on Friday.

Accepting the pleas, the court granted exemptions from appreance in the court to Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf.

During the course of proceedings, main accused Tauqir Sadiq along with Jawad Jamil, Mansoor Muzaffar and Kamal Mari were produced before the court.

Expressing displeasure over the non-appreance of another accused Ziaur Rehman, the court ordered to present him during next hearing or else arrest warrants will be issued.

The counsel for Zia apprised the court that his client was undergoing treatment abroad, adding that he will return as soon as he recovers.

The court ordered to present the medical certificate and adjourned the hearing till April 9.
