ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid was barred at the airport from travelling to Canada due to clearance issue, Dunya News reported on Friday. .

MNA Sheikh Rashid was due to fly to Canada via Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-781 but he was stopped from doing so due to non-issuance of security clearance.

The AML chief was scheduled to address a rally in Canada on March 23.

Sheikh Rashid said his ticket to Canada was confirmed but the reason for stoppage was not given.

There is no issue with the passport or visa, nor is the name on Exit Control List (ECL) but the problem is with government’s mind, the AML chief said in a Twitter post.

The government sources said that Canada Transport Security Agency didn’t issue NOC to Sheikh Rashid, thus, he was stopped at the airport.
