ISLAMANAD (Dunya News) - Banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al-Qaeda may attempt to assassinate former president Pervez Musharraf, Interior Ministry reported on Monday.

In a letter sent to defense secretary, PM and president, the Interior Ministry stated that the retired general was facing life threats.

The ministry said that Musharraf may be targeted by his own men the way slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer was gunned down by his security guard.

The letter stated that an assassination plot was also made to attack Musharraf’s vehicle while he left for court from hospital.

It is worthy to mention that Musharraf is due to appear before special court in high treason case on March 11.

Earlier, Musharraf’s lawyer also presented a threatening letter in special court, claiming that it was sent by TTP.

The letter asked the counsel team to separate themselves from the case or else they will be killed. The lawyers also stated that the former military ruler was also getting life threats.
