SHIKARPUR (Web Desk): A local anti-terrorism court on Saturday handed over death and life sentences to six accused in the much-talked-about murder case of journalist Wali Khan Babar.
In an unprecedented move, the court after a long trial announced death sentences for two accused Kamran alias Zeeshan and Faisal Moota who are still at large. In addition, four others namely Faisal Mehmood, Ali Rizvi, Naveed Polka and Shahrukh were awarded life imprisonment.
However, one accused Mohammad Shakeel was set free by the court over lack of evidence.
This case became even more critical when 6 people related to the case including key witness were also killed.
Journalists and activists have called it a historic move lauding the Pakistani investigating and judicial authorities.
Journalist Wali Babar, who was working for a private news channel, was murdered in January 2011 near Liaquatabad, Karachi when he was returning home from office.
