IHC declares govt's decision over CNG closure null and void

IHC directed station owners to resume supply of CNG to Potohar Region for thrice a week.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared government's decision to suspend Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for Potohar Region for three months null and void.

In its judgment, the court directed the officials to table the issue in a session of Council of Common Interests (CCI) within 90 days. It also directed CNG owners to resume supply of CNG to Potohar Region for thrice a week.

Earlier, IHC justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqi had reserved the decision over CNG closure.

Condemning the decision of Economic Coordination Council (ECC), the IHC accepted all the applications filed by owners of CNG stations.

It is important to mention that around 77 CNG stations owners submitted their applications in Islamabad High Court against the decision of government to shutdown CNG stations for three months . The court earlier stayed the order while issued its final verdict today.
