No progress in Kamran Faisal murder case after 10 months: SC

SC ordered for formation of new team to probe NAB officer Kamran Faisal's murder case.

(Web Desk) – Supreme Court on Thursday said that ten months have passed but no progress has been made in Kamran Faisal murder case so far.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Jilani resumed hearing of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigator Kamran Faisal’s murder case.

In its order today, the apex court directed to form a new probe team headed by a DIG level officer to investigate the matter.

The court ordered that the team should submit its report within two weeks.

Meanwhile, lawyer of victim’s father told court that his client is receiving death threats.

Several requests were made to police in this regard, he added.

The lawyer stated that former NAB chief Fasih Bukhar and former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf are trying to influence in the case.

It may be mentioned here that the Supreme Court took suo motu notice on Jan 23 of the death of Mr Faisal, who was investigating the Rs22 billion Rental Power Projects (RPPs) case in which Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf is also an accused.

His death came days after the court ordered the arrest of the prime minister and 15 others in connection with the scam.
