Justice Nasir sworn in as acting Chief Election Commissioner

Chief Justice administered oath to new acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Justice Nasir.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Justice Nasirul Mulk has taken oath as new acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Saturday.

The outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath to the newly-appointed acting CEC during an oath-taking ceremony at Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry.

Justice Tassaduq Hussain left the post of acting CEC Friday following his appointment as Chief Justice of Pakistan. Later, CJP Iftikhar nominated Justice Nasirul Mulk for this post.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by former acting CEC Justice Tassaduq and other judges of apex court.
Justice Nasirul Mulk is the son of former senator Seth Kamran Khan. He started off his professional career as legal practitioner in Peshawar.

Justice Nasir was appointed as Peshawar High Court judge in 1994. In 2004, he was promoted to Chief justice of Peshawar High Court. He became judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2005.
