Munawar remarks: JI writes letter to PM
Letter says JI has always supported Pak Army, and Hassans remarks were being misinterpreted.
LAHORE (Dunya News) –Central Secretariat of Jamaat-e-Islami Wednesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in order to vindicate its position regarding the statement by its Ameer about Pakistan Army.
The letter has been issued by the main secretariat of JI in Lahore.
The letter was also released to the media.
In the 4-paged letter, signed by Liaquat Baloch, JI underscored that it had always supported the Pakistan Army in all crises and that it respects the sacrifices made by soldiers and army officials.
The letter has been written in response to the press note by ISPR over the statement by Prof Munawar Hassan regarding the status of martyrdom of Pak army soldiers and Hakimullah Mehsud.
The controversial statement created an outcry in the country as different sections of society, especially the families of the martyred army men expressed their strong displeasure.
Pakistan Army registered its protest through an ISPR press note and asked JI Ameer to tender apology.
JI in its letter eulogized the sacrifices of Pakistan Army and claimed that it denounced the terrorism in any form.
The letter says that JI believed in democracy and peaceful change.
