Local bodies polls not be made issue of ego: Sharjeel

Says current elections would be the most unsystematic ones in the history of the country.

KARACHI (Dunya News) Provincial information minister Sharjeel Memon has said that local bodies’ elections should not be made an issue of ego. When political parties are not satisfied with party-based elections, any pressure in this regard is just a futile exercise.

According to a statement, Memon was of the view that current elections would be the most disorganized ones in the history of the country, adding that transparent polling is not possible under such chaotic conditions.

He added political parties have opposed party-based elections and have tabled a a resolution in National Assembly in this regard. So far as religious parties are concerned, they also have expressed their reservations regarding local bodies during Muharram, prestigious month of Islamic history, said Sindh information minister.

He concluded that coming ahead local bodies elections have become disputed before their due time.
