Rangers, police operation against Lyari gang war underway, 30 suspects arrested

30 suspects have arrested during the joint operation.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Joint operation by Rangers and police is underway in Lyari to bring the situation under control.

All the entry and exit points in the restive areas of Lyari were sealed and raids being conducted in search of gangsters of the Lyari gang-war, which is raging unabated as 11 more people lost their lives on Saturday.

Director General Sindh Rangers and Karachi Police chief Shahid Hayat visited the affected areas to monitor the situation.
A high-level meeting of the police and Sindh Rangers was held in the early hours of Sunday, said a statement issued by the paramilitary force.

According to the statement, the meeting held at the Rangers Headquarters reviewed law and order situation in Lyari and decided to continue operation in the troubled neighborhood till the arrest of all the criminals.

The statement noted that civil administration will provide food to the affected people of Lyari.

At night a heavy contingent of police and Rangers was seen moving towards all entry points of Lyari. According to an official, police and Rangers were preparing for a major showdown. During the late night operation, 30 accused were held while huge cache of arms was seized from the arrested.

Business remained suspended in most parts of the town amid persistent gunfire. Kalri Road, Slaughter House Road, Singo Lane, Farid Shah Colony, Gulistan Colony, Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road and Edu Lane were among the worst affected areas.
