KARACHI (Dunya News) - The anti-terrorism court sent MQM activist Syed Kazim Abbas Rizwi on 14-day physical remand on Wednesday.

He was charged with the targeted killings of former ATC public prosecutor Naimat Ali Randhawa and seven others.

The Judge of the ATC granted 14-day remand of the accused and ordered to produce him before the court on October 18.
The counsel of the accused told the court that his client was tortured by the police. He added that his client was also arrested before this but later released.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, City Police Chief Shahid Hayat had announced earlier that the death of Naimat Ali was a “politically motivated targeted killing.”

He said the police had arrested an MQM activist, Syed Kazim Abbas Rizvi, along with three others who killed Randhawa because he was going to take up the case of slain television reporter Wali Babar Khan.

Randhawa’s murder was not sectarian in nature, he had added.

Advocate Naimat Ali Randhawa was shot dead on September 26 while he was on his way home. His son, Tauqeer Ali Randhawa, was also injured in the attack by armed motorcyclists.

During the initial interrogation, Rizvi had confessed to his involvement in the killing.
