Violence continues unabated in Karachi, 6 more killed
Police and Rangers have failed to control situation in the metropolis.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - At least six people have been killed and two others injured in fresh wave of targeted killings in different parts of the city on Thursday.
According to police, two political activists identified as Noshad and Irshad were dead near Chamcha Hotel in Orangi Town.
Nadeem Farooqi, imam of a mosque, was killed in shooting incident in Street No. 3 of Jamshed Quarter.
Another person was killed and two others injured when unknown gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on a bus stop near Qasba Mor in Orangi Town. The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Ali.
A bullet-riddled body was found near Crown Cinema on Mauripur Road. The victim was identified as Shahbaz, 18-year-old.
A tortured body 30-year-old man was found in Usmanabad area of Kalakot. The victim was identified Yasir.
A bloody wave of killings and kidnappings has hit Karachi, a sprawling metropolis of 18 million people on the Arabian Sea and Pakistan s economic heart.
Bloody gang wars fed by ethnic and political bitterness, drugs and the Taliban, have created a culture of impunity, and the past two years have seen record death tolls.
In the first six months of 2013, 1,726 people were killed in Karachi compared with a previous high of 1,215 in the same period last year, according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
