Punjab govt to introduce new energy saving measures after Eid

Punjab could save 2000MW of electricity under the energy saving campaign.

 

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Provincial Minister for Energy Sher Ali Khan has said that City District Government will focus on converting street lights and offices to solar power system after Eid-ul-Fitr.

 

Addressing Dunya News forum on Saturday, the minister said that province could save 2000MW of electricity under the energy saving campaign.

 

He said that Punjab will be able produce additional 3000MW electricity by January 2015 in the light of agreements signed with the Chinese companies to produce electricity by utilising coal and solar energy.

 

She Ali Khan said that China Power International Holding will install four power plants of 600MW each in different parts of Punjab.

 

The electricity will be supplied at 12 cent per unit, he added.

 

The minister also said that Kalabagh Dam should be constructed with consensus among all the provinces.
