Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Thursday that sighting of moon was not reported in Pakistan and First Muharram 1431 Hijri will be on Saturday, December 19, 2009. The meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for sighting the moon of Muharram-ul-Haram was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Islamabad. Mufti Muhammad Rafi Hasni headed the committee as chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman fell ill earlier today. The committee announced after the meeting that no report of moon sighting was report from any zonal committee, therefore holy month of Muharram will start from December 19 and Ashura will be observed on Monday December 28, 2009.
