GB Chief Secy, IG suspended over tourists' tragedy: Nisar
Interior Minister says incident took place at the base camp of K-2 which is away from Ferry Meadows.
ISLAMABAD (Dunay News) Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has informed the House that one Chinese climber has been rescued while 10 foreigners and 2 Pakistanis have been killed in the terrorists activity in Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the foreigners include four Chinese‚ five Ukrainians and one Russian climber.
He said that a Chief Secretary and IG Gilgit-Baltistan have been suspended with immediate effect on the direction of the Prime Minister.
He said the incident took place at the base camp of K-2 which is away from Ferry Meadows. As per the initial reports‚ the terrorists were disguised in security forces uniforms.
The Minister said he contacted Chinese Ambassador in Islamabad while is in the process of contacting Russian and Ukrainian Ambassadors.
He strongly condemned the killing of climbers of foreign countries including Pakistanis during an attack by the terrorists in Gilgit-Baltistan.
