Qadri addresses rally as deadline expires

TMQ chief Tahirul Qadri said the nation had gathered in Islamabad to demand its rights.

 

ISLAMABAD: Tahirul Qadri is addressing participants of the long march after the deadline given by Minhajul Quran International chief expired at 11am on Tuesday.

 

Qadri had demanded dissolution of all assemblies before 11am.

 

While addressing the gathering, Qadri said "we need substantial changes and reform in our democratic system. We don’t want any kind of derailment of this democracy. We don’t want to go against law and don’t want to violate the principles of the world."

 

He moreover said that if he would ask the protesters to take over the houses of parliament, they would go ahead with the instruction, adding that no power in the world could stop the participants of the march from taking over the parliament.

 

However, Tahirul Qadri said that their goals was to eliminate anarchy and unrest and not to spread it.

 

Qadri stated that he did not want any unlawful and unconstitutional measures, adding that he did not intend to take over the President House and the Prime Minister’s residence.

 

He said he wanted the rulers to be made to account before the law of the country.

 

Thousands of anti-government protesters are rallying in the streets of the Pakistani capital for a second day despite early-morning clashes with police who fired off shots and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

 

Supporters of Tahir-ul-Qadri clogged the streets of Pakistan`s main avenue Tuesday after converging on the city Monday.

 

Qadri has galvanized Pakistanis who are frustrated with the current government that they say is riddled with corruption and ignores the needs of the common man..
