Qadris march: Security beefed up in red zone

Security has been tightened in the federal capital for Qadris long march on January 14.

 

ISLAMABAD: The government has begun sealing the red zone and placed containers in D-Chowk ahead of the Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran long march to ensure security. 


Security officials said that no compromise would be made on security and in this respect capital police and city administration decided to seal the red zone by putting containers and other roads blockages.


Additional CCTV cameras have also been installed at main buildings of capital including Parliament House. On the other hand, additional contingent comprising some 10,000 security force has been asked from Interior Ministry in this regard.

 

Overall 15,000 to 20,000 security officials would be deployed for security of Islamabad and 7000 officials would be deployed in red zone.


On the interior ministry’s directives, red zones including key government offices and diplomatic missions in the city were being sealed through containers and with barbed wire.

 

Furthermore, every individual entering Islamabad for the protest would need valid identification, while hired buses would have to possess valid documents.


The police and city administration have decided to retaliate strictly with the protestors who create law and order situation and would try to cross the red zone.
