At least 25 mourners were killed in blasts in Rawalpindi and Karachi on Wednesday.

The Pakistani Taliban on Thursday claimed responsibility for twin bomb attacks targeting Shiite Muslims in Karachi and Rawalpindi, which killed 25 people.

"We carried out the attacks (on Wednesday) in Rawalpindi and Karachi because the Shiite community is engaged in defiling the Prophet," spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told AFP by telephone from an undisclosed location.
