SC accepts plea against Int'l Court of Arbitration

CJP remarked that only the authentic documents will prove if the company really exists or not.


A five-member bench of the apex court headed by chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the Reko Diq case.

 

Chief Justice remarked that the court doesn’t acknowledge any bogus company and the relevant documents will reveal if the company is real or fake.

 

The court served notices to all respondents in the case, adding that documents were significant to understand the matter. He said at least Balochistan government should help the court in this regard.

 

On which, Advocate General Balochistan said that International Court of Arbitration reserved the verdict to bar Balochistan government from working on Reko Diq project.

 

During the hearing,  he said that 1,000 square kilometre area could be allotted to explore reserves under the law but 13,000 square kilometre was allotted to the company by issuing 10 licenses, thus, easing conditions in the regulations.

 

The chief justice repeated that only the authentic documents will prove if the company really exists or not.

 

The bench accepted the plea for hearing against international court of arbitration and adjourned the hearing till November 16.
