Punjab, Islamabad IGs summoned for not arresting Tauqeer Sadiq

The Supreme Court has summoned the Punjab and Islamabad IGs for not arresting ex-Ogra chief.

 

A three-member bench headed by Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry heard the case about the appointment of the ex-Ogra chief Tauqeer Sadiq.


The attorney for the NAB informed the court a raid was conducted to arrest Tauqeer Said but on a tip off, he escaped before the raid. The court also directed to present in court the officers nominated to arrest the accused.


The SECP official Shazia Beg also appeared before the court during the hearing. She informed the court that she was conducting an inquiry into Sui Northern and Southern Gas when all of a sudden surveillance department was shelved and she was sent back to Islamabad. She complained her telephones were being tapped and she was being harassed.


The court put off the hearing of the case to November 19.
