Follow constitution, not court order, AGP asks CEC

Attorney General Tuesday sent a memo clarifying the disqualification MPs having dual nationality.

He stressed on taking actions against MPs in accordance with the constitution instead of the court order.AGP Irfan Quadir in a letter written to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said that under Article 5 of the constitution the Election Commission has to make a decision itself on the issue of dual nationality and added that none of the court including the Supreme Court could give directives to the Election Commission.The memo further said that the disqualification of the dual nationality holder parliament members have been done under Article 631(c) and CEC while taking action should keep in view the constitution and his oath to it.
