PM Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that no one will be allowed to conspire against democracy.

Talking to media at the inauguration of the Pakistan gems and jewelry exhibition Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that conspiracy against democracy will not be allowed.Talking about NATO supply, he said that his government sided with the aspirations of the people when it referred to the parliament to decide on the NATO supply routes and evacuation of Shamsi base.He said Pakistan’s 24 soldiers had lost their lives in the Salala incident, which lead to blockage of the supplies. “Such an action necessitated ban on NATO supplies, and obviously there was no question of any external pressure on that issue,” Gilani said, adding that the Shamsi Airbase was vacated by foreign troops on the government’s orders. The Prime Minister strongly rejected the notion that the government was conspiring against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.“We have given sacrifices for the restoration of Chief Justice and went to jails for him and held long marches. We cannot be part of any conspiracy and we cannot conspire against democracy.”He refused to comment on the case of the chief justice’s son, saying the matter was sub-judice.
