Sindh observes strike on Awami Tehreek's call

11 people were killed and 35 were injured during incidents of violence across Karachi.

After deadly attack on its rally, the Awami Tehreek (AT) called for a general strike today (Wednesday) throughout Sindh in protest.At least 11 people were killed while 35 were injured as shooting incidents flared-up in various areas of the city after firing on the Awami Tehreek rally at Napier Road in Karachi against the Mohajir Province on Tuesday.The Awami Tehreek (AT) and the Peoples Aman Committee (PAC) had decided to bring out a rally from Cheel Chowk, Lyari, on Tuesday and to gather outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC), where the participants were to be addressed by Awami Tehreek President Ayaz Latif Palijo and Chairman PAC Uzair Jan Baloch.Firing incidents erupted in and around old city areas of the city including Lee Market, Juna Market and Cheel Chowk after the firing on rally. Meanwhile 10 vehicles, 20 motorcycles and six shops were also burnt down by unidentified miscreants.AT chief Ayaz Latif Paleejo held the Sindh government and its major coalition party responsible for the attack and killings.He also appealed to all the political parties to support the strike call and hold peaceful protests.
