PM Yousaf Raza Gilani said that he could not face two courts at the same time.

While speaking in the Senate in Islamabad, he said that Nawaz Sharif could not run the government despite having second opportunity. He said that Nawaz Sharif should take responsible steps as country was passing from crucial situation. He said that the PML-N was trying to destabilise democracy and he would not listen to the ‘Sharif Courts’. Those calling me a convict should know that I have a full right to an appeal, he added.Gilani said he was not the target rather the issue was the NRO. “I am not the NRO beneficiary rather it was Nawaz Sharif himself who benefited from it in the first place.” The Prime Minister clarified that the reason he was being targeted was because he was protecting the constitution. “If I don’t protect the constitution than I am the most popular person in the country,” Gilani added. Prime Minister Gilani claimed that the PML-N was threatened by Imran Khan and feared that a vacuum would be created if he (Imran Khan) announced a long march before them. Commenting on calls for his resignation, Gilani said he had no desire to remain in power and he should be de-notified if he was to be removed. “We don’t have a lust for power. We want to follow the constitution”, he concluded.
