Formation Commanders Conference reviews Siachen situation

The situation in Siachen was reviewed on the first day of the Formation Commanders Conference.

The Formation Commanders Conference of military leadership, chaired by Chief of Pak Army Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, started is underway at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday.The conference reviewed the rescue operations underway at Ghyari sector in Siachen Glacier where avalanche buried 124 soldiers and 11 civilians in the wee hours of Saturday (April 7) beside the professional abilities of Pakistan army.The meeting of militarys hierarchy will also discuss the situation in the region particular that pertaining to the situation along the Pak-Afghan border and the operations against the militants.The Corps Commander Conference will also approve the promotions of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel and from Colonel to Brigadiers.The annual Formation Commanders Conference would also review a number of other issues including matters pertaining to professionalism and training programmes.
