Karachi: Residents protest against power outages

Angry protestors demonstrated against massive power outages at Lasbela Chowk on Friday.

According to sources, the protestors blocked the road by burning tyres and placing bricks that disrupted traffic in the areas including Lasbela, Gulbahar, Gurumandir and Teen-Hati.Situation turned violent when police tried to disperse the agitated crowd and resorted to aerial firing. The angry mob hurled stones in response.Protesters said the area has been devoid of electricity for the past two weeks.On the other hand, Karachi Electric Supply Company Limited said the supply would only be resumed after residents pay their electricity bills.
