Latin American top fashion event closes in Sao Paulo in which designers showcased their collections.

The 32nd edition of Sao Paulo Fashion Week closed after Brazils top designers showcased their upcoming winter collections.Latin Americas biggest fashion event featured 24 shows throughout the week in a display of economic prosperity.One of the evenings highlights was the show by the Japanese-Brazilian designer Fernanda Yamamoto.The collection, entitled current renaissance featured slightly psychedelic outfits that mixed different patterns and fabrics. The colours varied mostly between dark green, deep red and black.The models wore little make-up and had their hair tied back in low buns.Former Brazilian soccer player Rai was among the front row VIP guests.Sao Paulos fashion week has become widely known for attracting celebrities and wealthy Brazilians twice a year.The events venue is closed to anyone who does not have a ticket to watch at least one of the shows.Stylist Giovana Gravino criticised the event for excluding the lower classes.What I feel and what I find very sad in this event is that it is closed. Many people who are interested in getting to know more about fashion dont have the opportunity like we who work here do. But I think that in general the event was very interesting and Brazilian fashion is important, she said.Actress Marizela da Luz also agreed that fashion week should be more democratic.I think this is very elite-driven (event) and it is difficult because if you dont know the right people you cannot watch the parades; you have to be part of the inner circle. I think this should be more democratic, she said.Organizers say there is not enough space or security to receive more guests.Designer Alexandre Herchcovitch also presented the upcoming winter collection of his male fashion brand which carries his name.He used environment-friendly fabrics made from plastic bottles and recycled leftovers from his own factory.Herchcovitch presented classic cut pants and blazers mixed with funky coats to the catwalk.Brazil is Latin Americas biggest economy and has one of the worlds fastest-growing fashion industries.
