Premiere of Man on a Ledge held in Los Angeles

Actor Sam Worthington joined co-star Elizabeth Banks at the premiere of Man on a Ledge.

Actor Sam Worthington, best know for his role in the blockbuster film, Avatar, is hoping to take his career to new heights with his latest movie, Man on a Ledge, which premiered in Los Angeles Monday night.Worthington joined castmates Elizabeth Banks, Ed Burns and Ed Harris on the red carpet for the screening which took place at the legendary Graumans Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.The actor, whose other screen credits besides Avatar, includes Clash of the Titans and Terminator Salvation, believes that his latest role is one his fans should like.It is still an action movie and I do movies that I would go and see, to pay money that I would go and see, that is the best barometer that I got, explained Worthington. It has some of the car chases and thrilling stunts and high rise hotels. It is a popcorn movie and a lot of fun. It is not that different from the other stuff.In the film, Worthington plays ex-cop Nick Cassidy, who stands on the ledge of a New York City hotel after an impossible escape from prison. Is Nick a desperate man or does he have a hidden agenda? As fellow NYPD officer Lydia Mercer, played by Elizabeth banks, tries to talk Nick off the ledge, she discovers that Nick may have a plan in the works to prove his innocence and dig up one of the forces biggest conspiracies.Worthington, who spent much of the filming literally on a ledge, said he was always very careful.There is always trepidation doing something like this, knowing that you will spend a majority up there and a majority of filming up there. You are always very cautions and you never get complacent, you are 220-odd feet in the air, said Worthington.Ed Burns credits his co-star Worthington with taking on the role.It took such courage, to get out there on the ledge, and he is not doing this just for the action sequences, he actually has to go out there and act. That is pretty daunting and pretty challenging. I think he pulled it off, said Ed Burns, who plays a cop that is not sympathetic to Worthingtons character.Man on a Ledge opens in theaters on January 27.
