Folk singer Arif Lohar receives Pride of Punjab award

The 'Jugni' singer appreciated the step of Punjab government.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Famous folk singer Arif Lohar was honored with the Pride of Punjab award on his precious services in the promotion of Pakistani music.

The award was given to the singer during an event arranged by Punjab Institute of Language Art and Culture in Lahore. He was also given a cash amount of three hundred thousand rupees.

The ‘Jugni’ singer further appreciated the step of Punjab government and hoped that this policy will be continued for other artists as well. 

Earlier, Arif Lohar said that teacher is very important in folk singing. He said he started learning singing at the age of 4 years and released his first album Puttar Alam Lohar Da at the age of just 7.

Arif Lohar said that his mother wished he could act in films and its because of the prayers of his mother that he has worked in 45 films so far. He told that he had learned 17 folk plays by heart.
