Dua Mangi's father paid ransom for her release, police challan reveals

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Dua Mangi, who was abducted from Defense area in Karachi last year, it has been revealed that she was released after her father paid ransom to her kidnapers.

Police have filed a challan in the anti-terrorism court in Karachi in Dua kidnapping case.

According to the challan, the kidnappers had used an Italian phone number for her ransom and had kept in touch with Dua’s parents on WhatsApp.

According to police, she was kept in a flat in Clifton after the abduction and the accused tied Dua Mangi with chains. It has been revealed in the police challan that Bismah, who was abducted from outside her home in Defense in May last year, was also kept in the same flat after the abduction.

According to the challan, 5 accused including Muzaffar alias Mozi, Zohaib Qureshi, Muhammad Tariq alias Shakeel have been arrested in the case. The accused have pleaded guilty to kidnapping in their statement and 9mm pistols, 30 bore pistols, a vehicle and other important items were recovered from the accused.

According to the police challan, Dua’s father paid a ransom of Rs 2.5 million to rescue her.

The anti-terrorism court has accepted the challan of the case and further hearing of the case will be held on July 7.

It is pertinent to mention that Harris was shot and injured by the accused on November 30 last year in Defense and his friend Dua Mangi was abducted while she returned home a week after the abduction.
