Karachi: One policeman martyred, four suspects arrested in separate raids

The officers have vowed to continue operation against the terrorist elements in the metropolis.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least one policeman was martyred due to firing of some unknown people in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area.

The slain officer was identified as Munawar Jamal while Inspector General Sindh and Deputy Inspector General West (DIG) have sought report into the matter and directed early detention of the culprits.

Funeral prayer of the martyred was offered earlier in the evening while a forensic report has been prepared. The report suggests that same weapons were used earlier in different killings. Sub-inspector Ashraf was killed using the same weapons in Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan area of North Nazimabad earlier. 

On the other hand, the gangwar members opened firing at security officers retaliating to which, suspect Sumair aka Sagheer was killed.

According to police, Sumair was worker of Baba Ladla group.

Separately, police detained four criminals involved in robberies by breaking locks of the shops in Sadar.

The group has conducted several dacoities in Empress Market, Urdu Bazaar and Liaquatabad.
