Islamabad United captain expressed wish to visit Pakistan if asked to commentate by broadcaster

(Web Desk) – Former Australian captain and Islamabad United coach, Dean Jones, is ready to take the commentary job, if offered, during tours of World XI and Sri Lanka to Pakistan. He said he is willing to arrive in Pakistan during September as the matches commence.

Expressing his joy on Sri Lanka agreeing to tour Pakistan for at least one T20 match, he called it a positive development. He is not only ready to tour with the aforementioned teams but also commentate in the matches. “It will be an extremely joyful occasion for me,” he commented.

Sri Lanka’s cricket board had approved a Pakistan tour, eight years after a deadly militant attack. After a security assessment, the team had been cleared to play three Twenty20 internationals including "at least one" in Lahore. Moreover, ICC had confirmed World XI to play in Pakistan. These two tours are to be scheduled in September or later.

It should be recalled that Jones had also commentated during the Lahore final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) second edition at Gaddafi Stadium. His team was the triumphant of PSL first edition under Misbah-ul-Haq’s captaincy.

He believes that the doors of international cricket will open after the arrival of Sri Lanka cricket team and World XI. The former Australian captaincy said promotion of cricket in Pakistan escalated after their ICC Champions Trophy 2017 victory.

However, the broadcasters have not yet asked Jones for the job. If asked, he said he will take the job. He has also agreed to remain as Islamabad United coach for PSL third edition.

Jones backed PCB s call to revoke NOCs obtained by 13 players, asking them to take part in National T20 Cup and later in Sri Lanka and World XI tours scheduled in September and October.
